Welcome to Gaspee Days, our
state-wide celebration commemorating the burning of the
British schooner the HMS Gaspee in 1772 near
Pawtuxet Village!
The Gaspee Days Committee Officers, Directors and
general membership are proud each year to continue the
traditions of the Gaspee Days celebration. We are a
civic-minded nonprofit volunteer organization.
Join us and get involved! You will meet new friends while
helping out with the Gaspee Days celebration.
Allow me to highlight for you what makes the
Gaspee Days Committee and our events so special:
- We offer you an opportunity to "walk through"
history with two events; the Children's Colonial Walk
and Colonial Encampment. These are great ways to
experience colonial life first hand.
- Take in a weekend of shopping, music, and great food
as part of our Arts and Crafts Festival
fundraiser. You can shop fine handmade items, enjoy
festival food and enjoy live music, all with beautiful
Pawtuxet Cove as the backdrop.
- Run for Gaspee Days in our annual 5K road race
fundraiser. Over 1200 runners join in the fun on
Parade day and run in the Allan and Edna W.
Brown Memorial 5k in front of cheering crowds before
the Parade kicks off!
- Catch the "colonial spirit" by attending a
non-denominational service Parade morning at Trinity
Church.
- Enjoy one of the largest colonial parades in the
area. The first six divisions of our ten division
Gaspee Days Parade are colonial reenactment groups.
- Join the Gaspee Days Committee and the Pawtuxet
Rangers in burning a mock HMS Gaspee in
Pawtuxet Cove.
Certainly the Gaspee Days celebration would not be
possible without dedicated volunteers. The
Gaspee Days Committee has the most dedicated, creative,
and generous group of friends you will ever
meet. I am honored the the membership has placed
their trust in myself along with our officers and
directors for the upcoming year. I encourage you to join
in the fun.
Finally, the Gaspee Days Committee is thankful to have the
support of the Pawtuxet Rangers, the Shriners, The
Friends of Pawtuxet Village, the Pawtuxet Village
Association, the Pawtuxet Merchants Association, Warwick
Office of Culture and Tourism, and elected officials from
the cities of both Warwick and Cranston.
We need your support! Join us for our celebration, get
involved with the Gaspee Days Committee, or make a
donation to help defray the cost of the annual Gaspee Days
Parade. To make a donation go to http://www.gaspee.com/Contributions.html.
